Clairlea-Westview Soccer Club was founded by Jim McPherson in 1969. It all began when he was asked one simple question by the Minister of Clairlea Park Presbyterian Church “What can you do for the youth in our church and community?” As we enter into our 50th season, much has changed over the years not only in the community but with Ontario Soccer as well. One thing however, has never changed. Each year we come together at the beginning of each season and ask ourselves the very same question that was asked in the beginning “What can we do for the youth in our community?”

That is why at Clairlea-Westview Soccer Club you will see youth referees, youth coaches, and other youth volunteers throughout the club. Our vision has always been to create an environment for children to learn the game of soccer and to provide opportunities for those 14-18 years of age to take on leadership roles and become active participants in our soccer club and the community.

Mentorship is a key component in developing players, coaches and referees. As parents, family, and friends it is essential that you too become active participants in the Clairlea-Westview Soccer Club community. Whether it’s working alongside young coaches, offering words of support and encouragement to our referees, or taking on a convening role, each one of us plays an important part in the success of our club and community development.

I look forward to the 2018 soccer season where we will be celebrating 50 years of soccer as the 2nd oldest club in Scarborough.  Please join in the celebration!
